launcher stuck at "Checking for client updates"

everytime i try to join a game i just cant,the launcher opens up and checks for client updates without doing anything,i really wanna try the game but its giving me some problems,maybe its because im using edge,though.

Update: installed the new version yet its still doing this,idk what to do,i just wanna try the game :(
