micheal p isn't here (because he actually tries to use games that are accurate to the past), i just used him as an example for what a mocknostalgia youtuber is

I mean if they spend some time on it they will probably discover how good the game is
not the point, people won't join if THAT is their first impression

I hear you, but it doesn't matter as much as you think if youtubers portray this game as roblox-adjacent for 3 reasons

1. Anything remotely similar to roblox will immediately be compared to it by roblox players. You can't control this, people will compare new things to what they are familiar with

2. There is an overlap between the playerbases of bopimo, roblox and other games

3. Within days of launching, players are already directly porting OLD roblox levels, without the input of "mocknostalgia youtubers"

with no. 3, i feel like thats going to die down as people either stop using the converter or instead use the converter for building the base for new levels instead of just converting existing ones

As someone who could be considered one of these YouTubers, I'm going to tell you that Bopimo has had connections with a community behind an "old roblox clone" (or I call them Roblox Alternatives, not dropping the name of it) since early development. The creators of Bopimo had a deep connection with this community, and many of the people on this site are people I recognize from that previous alternative. I feel like the community is the biggest contributing factor to why it may seem like a Roblox alternative. However, this may disappear overtime if Bopimo markets itself to other niches.

The site does seem reminiscent of a Roblox Alternative. The upper banner, virtual currency, virtual shop, online forums, the profile pages. I don't blame the devs for this, as this is a format they're familiar with and they're going to take that as inspiration. Again, this could disappear if Bopimo continues exploring their identity.

The game, however, is nothing like a Roblox Alternative. In fact, I would say that Bopimo is more of a Super Mario 64 clone minus Nintendo's Intellectual Property (which believe me, is a good thing with how litigious Nintendo is). And I think if the developer's appeal the game to the modding community behind SM64, I have a feeling that Bopimo will find its own success and independence.
